The rule covers landfills that accept municipal solid waste or drilling and production waste. Landfills accepting neither waste stream are not required by this provision to use fixed radiation detectors.
The present-day gap
Covered landfills must screen incoming loads. But excavated material, slag, and reused fill can move directly to another property or project—and New York’s routine fill analysis does not list radionuclides.
